Where They Wait

"Never enter the forest on Beltane Eve, for the veil between Us and Them is thin." You race to the edge of the forest as Beltane approaches. Whispers beckon to you, and you know: They are watching you. Your lungs burn, and you're sure your legs will give out at any moment. And yet, you run. Not away from Them, but towards Them. Will you find what you seek tonight? They lurk in the darkness. Snakes that wear human skin, with sharpened eyes that see fear and forked tongues that speak in temptation. Scavengers that feast without remorse, seeking any call desperate enough to beg for a demon's help.
