When they awoke, they were in a familiar yet unfamiliar classroom. It was a strange world that was a mix between the real world, the 'holy city of Marenis', and the world of the dead, 'Sullyland'.
Before them was a lifeform akin to a talking plush toy, 'Shiro'.
"Lately, the gods are mad that the townspeople's faith might be weakening, causing 'the scales between the two worlds' to tip. If the scales remain out of balance, the town will continue to fuse and everyone in Marenis will perish.
"So that's why I'd like you all to take on this game I've prepared! Through this game, the gods will determine if the people of Marenis are truly worth protecting!
In other words, if you win the game, you'll save the world! As a reward for your efforts, I'll return the memories I took from you.
"Oh, and by the way. The gods are looking forward to the Marenis Festival, so be sure to get all the preparations for that done too."
In order to stop the town from fusing, they have to prepare for the 'Marenis Festival' by day, and by night participate in the 'Night Lessons', a game that puts their very lives on the line—
The pieces of their stolen memories. The trauma inflicted on them. And the approaching Marenis Festival.
...But that was merely the prologue to destruction.
