When I lost my faith in people, I holed myself up in my room and immersed myself in video games and anime. I hoped that, if I ran away from the pain and suffering, someone would come to my rescue eventually, and I would find a place where I could belong. After an entire year, just as I began to fear that such a place would never exist, I found a pamphlet in the crack under my door.
