Thomas Miller is the protagonist; the player can customize his name, but Thomas Miller is the default. His parents and little sister died in a plane crash six years before the story, after which he lived with his grandmother Allison until leaving for college, and he is just returning from college at the start. He is very close to his grandmother, both aunts, and his cousin Catherine, whom he calls Kitty Cat.
