A military tribune in the legions, Valerius was forcibly conscripted from his farmboy life years ago and by now has become a cynical leader of killers, a tender heart burdened by the cruel realities of war, death, and his own culture’s sadistic and domineering nature. That heart had a chance to break free a year ago, when he met and fell in love with the Dagaran noblewoman Clodia. Now, he stands outside the walls of Dagara, his love trapped within, desperately plotting to save her life before the Raskyan war machine kills everyone in the city. [From official website]
