Pi

"Pi, the one who built a heaven of her own, and a hell of her own." The Name Only She Knew Character Analysis: Pi Pi is a woman consumed by obsession. In pursuit of a perfection that does not exist, she will stake everything she has. It is precisely the intensity of this madness that gives her a kind of beauty. Yet, as her name suggests, π has no end. However far the calculation is carried, it yields only an ever-closer approximation, never the number itself. Her pursuit is likewise destined to approach its goal endlessly without ever reaching it. The distinctive halo above her head is a disc formed from three quarter-segments and a further 0.14 segment, echoing the value 3.14. Three lines extend from the disc and mark out a prison of her own making. She is confined by her own mind and can never escape her obsession. The same structure also evokes puppet strings: the lines lead outward to whatever she controls, never back to herself. Her extraordinarily long hair is, by design, infinite in length, for π has no end. (She disposes of the excess through a portal in the ground.)
